Two young Sheffielders who came to the city from Poland certainly didn’t hang about when they decided to open a restaurant together – they did it in a month.
Karolina Netku and Sylwia Mista are “just a little bit crazy” to move so fast after having the idea, admitted Karolina. Mniam Mniam in Abbeydale Road – the name means yummy yummy – opened in late December. Karolina said: “We thought we’d do something different, something new. There’s only one Polish restaurant around Sheffield so we thought we’ll try and do this. “The food is what many Polish people have missed here and they don’t have time to cook at home. They come here and chill out and have a nice dinner.” She said they are producing typical home cooking from all parts of the country. The pair have been pleased that non-Polish people have been curious to try their food as well and many have made return visits. The restaurant was a Persian place called Artin’s until recently. The interior has had a makeover in elegant shades of pistachio and buttermilk. The menu is in English and Polish and we decided to be guided by Karolina. As this is a café, there are snacks as well as main meals and they also offer coffee and cake! |
Welcome to Mniam Mniam! Sheffield's first and only Polish Restaurant. . . . . .
So you've never tried Polish food before? You think that all we eat is Pickled Cabbage? Think Again!
